About the Sherman Tank Organisation
The Sherman tank at Slapton Sands is owned by Exercise Tiger Memorial Limited, a non profit making company, ‘limited by guaranteed’ Companies House registration number 5467965.
The Directors of the company are:
- Dean Small (son of Ken Small)
- John Casson (for further details please visit www.johncasson.com)
There are also two American Honorary Directors:
- Laurie Bolton who lives in the USA and represents the Exercise Tiger survivors and families of those who died or survived and who have since passed away.
- Bob Martin who lives in the UK is Commandant of the (US) Marine Corp League, he and the League provide tremendous support to our efforts.
The registered office is at: Exercise Tiger Memorial Limited, 2 Duke Street Court, Bridge Street, Kingsbridge, Devon, TQ7 1HX. United Kingdom.
The company has four primary purposes:
- to raise money to maintain and preserve the tank
- through a web site reach out to those who are survivors of Exercise Tiger and the families of those who either lost their lives or survived
- continue an international programme of awareness to the tragedy of Exercise Tiger
- raise money to be able to place a memorial at the site of the tank at Slapton Sands naming all those who lost their lives in Exercise Tiger.
