About the Sherman Tank Organisation


The Sherman tank at Slapton Sands is owned by a Slapton Sands Memorial Tank Limited, a non profit making company, ‘limited by guaranteed’ Companies House registration number 5467965.


The directors of the company are Dean Small (son of Ken Small) and John Casson.

The registered office is at: Slapton Sands Memorial Tank Limited, 2 Duke Street Court, Bridge Street, Kingsbridge, Devon, TQ7 1HX. United Kingdom.

The company has four primary purposes:

  1. to raise money to maintain and preserve the tank
  2. through a web site reach out to those who are survivors of Exercise Tiger and the families of those who either lost their lives or survived
  3. continue an international programme of awareness to the tragedy of Exercise Tiger
  4. raise money to be able to place a memorial at the site of the tank at Slapton Sands naming all those who lost their lives in Exercise Tiger.
